How to Add a Custom Item to EMR Diagnostics

A custom item can be added to the diagnostics section of the EMR the same way a note is added to an existing item.

First, in the Encounter click on the exam field you would like to add a customization to.  In the screenshot below, notice that "full and ortho" is selected (in blue)

This means that if a note is added in the yellow box at the bottom, the note will be attached to the selected item.

However, if we DESELECT the blue item (by clicking it until it is no longer blue), the notes box becomes a way to add a fully new item that is not otherwise present in the list of selections. 

Press the Enter button on your keyboard to have the note save as a new field.
